I hate these things…I quite honestly have no idea who I will turn out to be. Whatever I put here could change day to day…although I do have somewhat of a sense of what I enjoy and where I hope to end up, so I'll do my best to explain my motivations and what drives me to wake up every morning and continue to consider myself a designer, despite the many reasons not to.

I am driven every day by the incessant and unexplainable need to create beautiful 'things'. I am completely aware that Architecture must also be functional, and in many cases that is more important to the client, to society, and en masse in general…but for me…architecture must also be beautiful. Society does not always understand just how important aesthetics are to the buildings that create the spaces they inhabit. The forms that define space also define eras…they exemplify the ethos of entire empires. That sort of impact does not come about from bad design, or design only focused on function and not form.

My personal approach to design began in a very regimented way. I focused almost entirely on creating spaces through the use of a gridded system, giving myself rigid rules and idealogies in order not to lose track of creating something simply…good.

The reason I've called this site, and my general philosposhy on design thus far "SLIP" is because that's what i've enjoyed doing. Taking the different elements of a building, and 'slipping' them past one another has created opportunties within my own designs for the creation of more interesting and profitable spaces. Pulling a wall back from another wall and offsetting them both creates a different interaction for the inhabitant of that space with the space. It creates a different interaction for the light entering that space and even engineers opportunities to better utilize space. You'll notice my exploration of that ideaology in many of projects found elsewhere on this site.

That being said, (I'm almost done I promise) this site exists as a record of my architectural an creative pursuits. I will continue to update this site as I continue to create…hopefully.
