This design is proposed as a microcosm of the Princeton campus and its generative parts. The structure is made up of three layers, the piloti at grade, the first/second floor, and the roof. The piloti are present throughout the site as structural supports and as spatial oriental markers. Interior Spaces spread across the gridded site, sometimes rising to two floors, other times occupying only one floor. The roof plane of the structure echoes the presence of traditional gable roofs throughout campus. Here the design deploys half gables, or shed roofs to recall and communicate with the surrounding site context. The structure floats above the ground raised on piloti, allowing students to circulate through, around, and under the built forms. Covered terraces and vertical landscapes created underneath lobbies, building cores, and interior spaces allow students to utilize and inhabit the sloped site and landscape.
